Granite was established in February 2008 with the goal of optimizing the student housing market in West Lafayette, Indiana. We started with 13 properties in 1 market with 4 staff members. Today, we manage over 400 properties in 8 markets with a team of more than 70 people. Granite has been recognized as one of the Top 15 Third-Party Managers by Student Housing Business with more than ten thousand beds under management.

Brent is a graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science and an MBA. Prior to founding Granite, Brent owned AAG Venture LLC, a production farming operation and grain elevator. He also was a CEO for Gutwein Groves, Inc. He is the co-founder and president of Boulder Group, LLC – a real estate asset management firm and holds an Indiana real estate broker’s license. In addition, Brent is also a co-founder of M25 Group, a VC firm in Chicago. Brent has widened his business exposure with ownership in the Lafayette Aviators, a college wood bat baseball team, and Miracles Fitness, a gym offering personal training/Pilates/yoga, and Solo Ceibo, a real estate development in Costa Rica. Brent is an avid runner and enjoys spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
John is a 2007 graduate of the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. He has spent his professional career gaining experience in an array of industries, including retail, event production management, and manufacturing. He has served as the General Manager for a boutique private equity firm where he oversaw all facets of the business, including sales and marketing, operations, accounting, customer service, and more. On the side, John participates in several entrepreneurial ventures including a waste management business, a self storage facility, and more. John is also a Bloomington, Indiana native, where he still resides with his wife and three children where he enjoys being an active leader in the community.
Tae is a graduate of the University of Michigan where he obtained his BA (American Culture) and MBA (Finance). Over his 20+ year career, Tae advanced in finance and accounting roles at several organizations including General Motors, United Technologies, ESPN, AccuWeather, and National 4-H Council. Tae obtained both the CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license and CMA (Certified Management Accountant) credential. Tae resides in Carmel, IN and spends most of his free time with his family. Tae also frequents the gym for a quick workout and seeks out a cafe for some light reading when he finds downtime.
A graduate of Purdue University, Joshua obtained his bachelor of arts in education in 2001 and in 2006 received his MBA from the Daniels school of Business. In his 23-year career, 22 have been in student housing. With EdR he performed roles including property operations and development where he was involved in over $1 billion of deliveries. Most recently as an asset manager at Greystar he covered a $1 billion off-campus portfolio and a $1.6 billion on-campus portfolio. A native of Indiana, Joshua has lived with his wife and daughter in Memphis, TN, since 2007. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family, exercising, walking his two corgis and traveling when possible, especially to attend Formula 1 races.
Joel is a graduate of Purdue University’s School of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and Supervision and has also received his CPM® designation through the Institute of Real Estate Management. After graduating from Purdue, he co-founded and ran a 501(c)(3) non-profit music ministry with his wife for several years before coming to work at Granite. Joel enjoys spending time with his wife and children, being involved in local church ministry, as well as running and playing a variety of intramural sports.
Kevin is a graduate of Baylor University and was the co-founder of SimpleBills, a utility management company focused in the student housing market. Prior to joining Granite, Kevin focused on strategy, sales, marketing and revenue while at SimpleBills. Kevin, a father of three, enjoys horseback riding and visiting rodeos with his family.
Stuart is a graduate of Purdue’s Krannert School of Management and a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. He is a co-founder and partner of Gutwein Law and co-founder of Boulder Group LLC – a real estate asset management firm. In addition, Stuart is also a co-founder and board member of M25 Group, a venture capital firm based in Chicago and an owner and board member of the Lafayette Aviators – a summer collegiate wood bat team. Stuart serves on the Indiana Business Law Survey Commission (an advisory commission to the Indiana Legislature on Indiana business entity law) and on the Board of Directors for the Lafayette Catholic School System, the Lafayette Christian School Foundation and Greater Lafayette Commerce. He enjoys spending time with his family and coaching youth baseball.
Terry has been a real estate broker for over a decade. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Liberty University and he built a career in real estate. Prior to coming to Granite he served as General Manager for a local firm, and then eventually started his own real estate brokerage and management company, eventually moving to full-time property management. In advance to his real estate career, Terry spent 24 years in the Armed Forces, serving 10 years in the US Navy and 14 years in the US Army. In his spare time, Terry and his wife enjoy time with family, camping, and keeping up with their grown children who are spread from Florida to Northern Virginia.
Dale holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University in Organizational Leadership and Supervision. He has spent most of his career in the housing industry, which includes 12 years in homebuilding and over 10 years in local government as a director of a rental property inspection program, as well as other housing and infrastructure projects. In his free time, Dale enjoys spending time with his wife, kids, grandkids, and his extended family.
Josh is a lifelong Bloomingtonian and 2006 Indiana University graduate where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. Prior to joining Granite he spent several years working in the fitness industry before shifting his focus to real estate where he spent 9 years as a Realtor in Bloomington and the surrounding area. In his spare time Josh spends considerable time coaching youth baseball and softball, playing music and boating on Lake Monroe with his Wife and two children.
Ryan is a graduate of Purdue University with a BS in Accounting and Finance. Prior to coming to Granite, Ryan worked in Public Accounting. He also held leadership roles of CFO, Group Financial Officer for a Division of a Public Company and General Manager of a manufacturing company where he oversaw all facets of the business, including plant operations, accounting, sales, purchasing and human resources. Highlights of Ryan’s career have seen him produce record breaking profitability as a GM, multiple merger and acquisitions, and large scale budgeting and forecasting projects. When Ryan is not working he enjoys time traveling with his wife. He also enjoys the time he has with his family.
Andrew Costa graduated from Pensacola Christian College in 2008. He brings a diverse background to his role. He spent several years serving the community as a corrections officer and transitioned to Granite in 2015. Outside of the workplace, he has a passion for fitness and art. He has a well-rounded approach to life’s challenges, reflecting his commitment to making a positive impact in all he does.
With over 12 years as a dedicated Manager of Operations and Maintenance, Bryan seamlessly blends his skilled trades expertise with strategic leadership. His extensive manufacturing background drives process optimization and quality assurance. Years in plumbing have deepened his understanding of complex systems. Bryan’s empowering leadership, honed through collaboration and growth-focused guidance, is reflected in his teams. Beyond his roles, he and his wife are property owners venturing into real estate entrepreneurship. Bryan also serves as a devoted worship pastor, embracing his bivocational calling to inspire and uplift the community through faith, music, and leadership. Bryan loves spending time with his wife and family on the water or just relaxing and enjoying all the blessings around him.
Bryan is a graduate from Purdue University and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science. He has spent the last 10 years working with Granite in a few different roles mostly focused on Leasing and Marketing. Prior to Granite he worked in hospitality, customer service, and management. In his free time, Bryan enjoys spending time with his wife, family, playing/listening to music, the culinary arts, and various outdoor activities.
Jeremiah is a 2016 Bachelor of Science graduate of Huntington University. He has served with Granite in various Operations roles since 2022. Prior to joining Granite, Jeremiah worked in administrative and customer service roles in manufacturing and retail. Jeremiah enjoys spending time with his family in West Lafayette and wrenching on old, rusty vehicles.
While attending Indiana University to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management and Policy, Stephanie began her journey in property management in 2014 as a part-time leasing agent. Since then, she has been able to leverage the skills acquired from both her education and work experience to foster professional growth in the industry. In addition to working with Granite, Stephanie serves on the Board of Directors for the Monroe County Apartment Association and enjoys giving back to the community. Outside of work, she looks forward to spending time with her husband and dogs, music, and outdoor activities.
Hannah is a graduate of Azusa Pacific University holding a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Business Development. She has a background in volunteer leadership, as well as varying property management roles prior to joining the Granite team. Hannah is based in Washington D.C. with her husband where they enjoy exploring, roadtripping, and finding new local coffee roasters.
